    Vegetarianism

I'm now reading a book titled (Vegetarianism). I don't think I need to elaborate much about what story is the book telling.

Few weeks back, I was looking for a travelog book (彳亍地平线) at Kinta City Popular Bookfair. When I went to the cashier to purchase the book, the staff suggested to me to get another book in order to enjoy discount. I then went wandering to look for another book.

I wasn't so lucky. At one point I was thinking of just giving up and only buy that one book. But at the end, found the green-covered book at the health and living section.

Am I a vegetarian? No, I don't think so. Maybe I could be considered as Semi-Vegetarian. Hahaha......

What are the reasons for people to become vegetarians? To be healthier? To be kind to animals? Religion matter? Parents or friends influence? ..........

Inside the book, the author states one of the reasons that caught me notice: to ease famine and poverty

Do you know that almost 50% of the crops harvested worldwide, are being fed to the animals which then turned into meat for human? Don't you think it will help a lot of people who suffer from hunger, if this 50% can be transformed to food for them?

Well, it's a subjective opinion. It could be any reason for someone to be a vegetarian; and could be any reason for someone not to be a vegetarian.

    I think I'm becoming a semi-vegetarian. Some time later, I might be a Pro-vegetarian. :-)

    Broken Bridges

Went to watch a musical, Broken Bridges, with Xuan the other day at Taman Budaya Perak. Not to mention that that was my 1st ever visit to the place as well, although I have known the existence of this place for long. Besides, this was also my 1st musical theatre play experience in Malaysia (after watching a few West End's in London and in B'ham).

The musical was written by 2 Ipoh-Mali, and there's why it is set in Ipoh in the 1950's. Produced by KLPAC (KL Performing Art Centre) and the story was about 2 good friends, Ming (played by Douglas Lim) and Leong. After completing SC (Senior Cambridge, equivalent to SPM now) with Pass, Leong decided to continue his father's Chan Durian business whereas Ming wanted to explore the world and not taking over his dad's Wong White Coffee

10 years later, Ming came back to Ipoh as a contractor and was in charge of a project in replacing old building with a new and modern. At the same time, he fell in love and dated with Mei Ling. Unfortunately, things didn't go so well. The folks accused Ming cheated on them because the project had affected their daily business. Mei Ling got pregnant and later committed suicide as she couldn't cope with pressure of pregnancy before marriage from the neighbourhood. Ming was the only one to be blamed and he left Ipoh once again.

At one point, I could really relate myself to the characters. I was once also confused about whether to stay back in hometown, Ipoh, or really far far away to explore the world. Well, of course now I've chosen to stay in Ipoh but it doesn't mean I won't go exploring the world. Do I regret? I'm happy and fine with my life now, so why should I regret? No doubt, it's curious to know how I would be if I'm now on the other side of the world. Just like I had the experience of studying oversea but I do wondering what my life would be if I'm a local undergraduate. In the Economics context, that's Opportunity Cost. Whatever option is it, there is an opportunity cost.

So long that I'm enjoying my life now, why should I worry, rite?

Ipoh town, where life is never boring
Ipoh town, the spot for story telling
    Lively town, lovely town
    Where it's bound to astound
So come on down to Ipoh
Come on down to Ipoh town
(from the Broken Bridges theme 'Ipoh Town')

    Lost in Translation

    Time: Midnight
    Location: Mamak Stall
Characters: Me, my mum, Anna (my counsin sister from China), Wang (Anna's husband), Jing (Anna's daughter), Kim (my aunt), Robert (Kim's husband) and a Mamak waiter

Combined 2 square tables. We were all sitting around it. Teh halia, teh ais, kopi o panas, ais limau, roti naan, satay, ..... were ordered. Chit chatting, what most ppl do during their presence in Mamak stalls. So did we.

At a point, I found myself sitting in between Wang and Uncle Robert. Wang was chatting with Rob in limited English vocabs. So I was there being a translator. Opposite us, there were Anna, Jing and Aunt Kim. My aunt was chatting with them in not-so-good Mandarin. Again, I was asked to do some translation of words at some times. Besides, my busy-body mum was talking with a Mamak guy with their broken Bahasa Malaysia. Luckily I wasn't asked to become a translator.
I guess most of the Malaysians have such experiences before. R-O-J-A-K, the special cuisine you can find in Malaysia. Everyone likes it!

    Translation of the above quote:

Mr, where can I get 'condom'?

Last week, I was on duty for a charity fundraising event at Selayang Makro. On a Sunday afternoon, while I was trying to stop people and explain to them about the charity, out of no way, a guy approached me and asked the above question. Since I was just wandering around the entrance of Makro, I pointed at the entrance and said: "Maybe you can get it inside."

Don't you think he's dumb?? Who will go to a hypermarket to buy condom? FYI, there were a few petrol stations near Selayang Makro. Wasn't that easier to get it there. Desperation made him think irrationally, I supposed.

Then I looked around and found a Kancil stopped with engine on not far away. There's a lady sitting inside, wearing black singlet. I didn't see how she look like and never prejudge who's she.

What I amused about the whole incident:

    1. First time being asked of where to buy condom. In fact, I have never in my life bought any condom. It's because I don't need it yet. However, I know in UK can get free condom easily la..
    2. The couple were really desperate to get condom and ..... I thought: having sex in the afternoon? OK, they had their choice.

At the end, he didn't get it. I didn't know the reason. Saw him walking back to the Kancil and drove away. Maybe he would have got it from the petrol station nearby.

Nevertheless, applause should be given to the couple as they practiced 'Safe Sex'. Do you agree?

    Salzburg ·

Yes, some people may wonder how nice could Salzburg be, until I said I wanted to bury myself there. OK, I looked back from my pictures folders, and exported out these 2 photos which say everything.

These 2 photos were taken during my winter trip to Greece-Germany-Austria back in 2004.

If you think it's damn nice and you planning to visit to Salzburg, I would suggest you to visit during winter time. You may not want to miss out the Sound of Music tour. However, as stated in the Lonely Planet guide book, this tour is considered as one of the worst thing to do.

Not nice. Come on..... OK, nevermind. It's subjective. No big deal. Maybe you have found other cities that are much more nicer. Tell me, ok?

    18 May 2006

Re: Which European City is right for you?

This is so funny! I think Rome is the worst European city. Hahahaha... It's so dodgy. Sorry la... I dun have a very good impression to Rome. Yet the result says it's right for me?? Something must be wrong.

I've been to all the cities listed above except for Moscow. Maybe I would have the chance to pay visit in the future. However, I do know that it's very hard to get visitor visa to Russia. And do u think Russian mafias are scary?? No idea....

Both Berlin and Munich are cool cities. Munich was always the 1st German city that I wanted to visit in my plan. Maybe it's the Michael Ballack effect. I think so... Yet, it was Berlin being the 1st. It's the place where u can learn a lots about the modern European history; good for ppl like me who know very little nuts. Jewish Museum and Charlie Checkpoint Museum are the places for this education. For Munich, I could only remember BEER BEER & BEER. Hahahaha... Damn it. Dunno when can I go to Oktoberfest!

Paris and London. I think both of these cities are similar. In what way?? Eh..... all the buildings in there are old; they are the capital; the tube and metro services looked similar; the food also almost the same (nothing special, hahahahaha)...... Is Paris really that romantic? I dun think so wor. Maybe should find the right person to go with. I have been to London so many times. Asking myself what do I miss the most about London? I dun have an answer..... maybe.... 4 seasons roast duck. Hahahahaha

Athens. Quite similar to Rome. One being the centre of Roman history; another was the centre of Greek. I hope I'm right about it. So I won't embarass myself. Thought I could visit there during Athens Olympics 2004. But I went after that. Feel so stupid. Just like I will miss Germany World Cup 2006. The timing is just wrong. The Greeks weren't that friendly to us. Maybe it's just our face problems. :p

Talking bout Barcelona. It's a city where u must go if u r visiting to Spain. All the Gaudi's architecture, u won't find them at other places. The food there are nice. Paella and tapas. I'm sure you would like it very much.

The list should include another 2 cities, which I always tell ppl that there are the nicest cities in Europe. Salzburg and Florence. The scenery views there is just fantastic! So peaceful. If you bury urself there, ur body can be kept forever naturally. You must go and find out what I mean. No bluffing!

P/S: Next target: Asia cities. Wait for me, k?

    Thomas Cup

    Mein Deutsch nicht gut!

It's have been about a year plus since my last German lesson back in uni. I started the leisure course from the Absolute Beginner level for 2 terms in my 2nd year. Then 2 terms of Post-Beginner during my final year of uni. In fact, I did think of going to take up German course in Germany after graduation. But, it's just damn expensive to do that. I had to forget bout this option.

Yesterday evening, I had my first German lesson after a year plus. Due to the lack of practices and revisions, I have lost the touch in speaking and listening. Dun even mention all the hardcore German grammar. Masculine, feminine or neutral! Fortunately, my reading skill is still up to the level. (P/S: applause please..... :-) ) Hope that the 1-1 session can really help me in improving my German pronunciation.

The tutor is a Moroccan, who can understand Arabic, French, German, Spanish and English. Oh man, he beats me. I could only understand Mandarin, Cantonese and English with lousy Malay and Hokkien, plus beginner level of German and Japanese. Wondering after how long only could I master all these not so good languages???

Talking bout Germany. I miss the trips to Berlin in Winter 2004 and to Munich in Summer 2005. The German Christmas Markets, sausages, beer and all the snacks. When will I be in Germany again. This year World Cup? I dun think so. It's too late to plan it now. I still remember when I first started uni, I planned to go to Germany this year for the World Cup. However, changing to the 3-years course, there vanished the idea.

Well, hope that I can improve my German and somedays I am able to blog with German. Hehe.... Tschüss

After 6 and a half months, this lost luggage has finally come back to me! I have no idea where it has gone, thanks to the shipping company. I think I have phoned them or emailed them more than 5 times. Anyway, glad that the luggage is back to me now!

    I feel damn bad now!

This evening after work, I went to USJ Taipan Triangle area to buy a table lamp and a cable extension. On the way back home, suddenly I saw someone trying to cross the road, which was a dumb move. Of course I couldn't stop, bad timing, impossible for me to step on the brake. While I was about to pass that guy, an old man, for your information, I noticed that he's blind and he just raised the blindman stick. Oh shit.............. It's supposed to be a signal for the drivers to stop the car and let's the blinds cross the road. I know it! Yet I did nothing...... I did scared him while my car passing by him. I felt so terribly bad at that moment. When I looked from the rear view mirror, the drivers behind me didn't stop the cars as well. Normal Malaysian..... Sigh..... I was blaming myself for the rest of the journey back home. I was thinking: I should just stop my car a bit front and get my ass out of the car and then help him cross the road. Yet I did nothing. I was wondering how long did he take to cross the road. Did anyone else help him? I felt really sorry......... sorry. "Please forgive me, Uncle." I feel really terribly horribly BAD..................... As a punishment, I won't watch any drama series nor TV for 3 days. I promise: I will stop the car whenever I see people wanting to cross the roads, epecially if they are Warga Mas or blinds who raise the blindman stick as a signal.

P/S: Yes, for your information, the blinds would raise the stick if they want to cross the roads. It's signal for the drivers to stop the vehicles and let them cross. It would be greatful if people could help them cross the road as well. Let's them hold your arm and slowly accompany them crossing the road.

Hulululu

    The Craziest!

    What's Your True Color?

Adwin, your true color is Black!

Your color is black. The color of night. Serene and mysterious, black conjures up images of elegant evening gowns, dashing tuxedos, and gleaming limousines. Traditionally a symbol of success, black also represents power and an uncompromising demand for perfection. Not surprisingly, you tend to set challenging goals for yourself and do whatever it takes to achieve them — your strength of character is second to none. This unfaltering determination, along with your natural elegance, impresses people. But keep in mind that your personality might be intimidating to some. Try to temper your demanding side with a little softness — trust us, it won't kill you. Overall, though, black is the color of professionalism and achievement, which means it's clearly the color for you.
